Is Demodectic Mange Contagious to Humans?
No. Demodectic mange isn't contagious to people, and it doesn't spread to other dogs either. Demodex canis mites live only on dogs, and almost every dog carries a few of them in its hair follicles from the first days of life, picked up from its mother while nursing.
Mange develops when the mites multiply out of control, usually because a young dog's immune system isn't yet able to keep them in check, or because an adult dog has another illness or is taking a medicine that weakens the immune system. It isn't caused by poor hygiene, and you don't need to isolate your dog or treat your home.
Sarcoptic mange (scabies) is the type that can cause a temporary itchy rash in people. If you're not sure which type your dog has, ask your vet, since the two are treated a little differently. Read more about demodectic mange in dogs and puppies.
