Our commitment
Web Ventures of New York, Inc., which operates Dog Health Handbook, wants the site to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnifiers or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we have done
- Pages work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to main content” link.
- Pages declare their language and use headings, lists, tables and landmarks so assistive technology can navigate them.
- Text and links meet WCAG contrast requirements, and pages can be zoomed to 200% and viewed on small screens without losing content.
- Images that carry information have text alternatives, and form fields have labels.
- We test pages with automated accessibility tools and by hand when we update them.
Known limitations
Some parts of the site come from third parties and are outside our direct control. These include advertisements, the consent message shown to some visitors, the online “ask a vet” service window, embedded social media buttons and the reader question form provided by our website platform. We choose partners with accessibility in mind and report problems we find to them. Older pages that we have not yet refreshed may also have issues, and we fix them as we update each page.
Feedback and help
If you have trouble using any part of Dog Health Handbook, or need information in another format, please email us at info@dog-health-handbook.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us the page address and the problem you ran into. We aim to reply within five business days.
