These Terms of Use apply to your use of dog-health-handbook.com (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Who we are

The Site is owned and operated by Web Ventures of New York, Inc. (“we,” “us” or “our”), doing business as Dog Health Handbook. Our contact details are at the end of these terms.

2. Not veterinary advice

All content on the Site, including articles, answers to reader questions, reader-submitted content and comments, is for general information only. It is not veterinary medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for an examination by a licensed veterinarian. Using the Site, sending us a question or receiving an answer does not create a veterinarian–client–patient relationship. Answers to reader questions are written by our editorial team based on the information supplied and are not a diagnosis.

If you think your dog is having an emergency, contact your veterinarian, an emergency veterinary clinic or an animal poison control center immediately. Do not delay or disregard veterinary advice because of something you read on the Site. Do not give your dog any medicine without your veterinarian’s direction.

3. Reader questions, stories and comments

If you send us a question, story, photo or comment (a “Submission”), you confirm that it is your own and that you have the right to share it. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to publish, edit, adapt and display your Submission on the Site and in related materials. We may edit Submissions for length, clarity and privacy, remove personal details, decline to publish them or remove them at any time. Please do not include information you want to keep private, such as your full name, address, phone number or details about other people. Submissions reflect the views of their authors, not ours. We are not obligated to answer any Submission.

4. Advertising and affiliate links

The Site shows advertising and contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission when you click a link or buy a product or service, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. The online “ask a vet” service shown on some pages is provided by an independent third party under its own terms; we are not a party to, and are not responsible for, any advice or service you receive from it. A mention of a product or service is not a recommendation or endorsement.

5. Third-party sites and services

The Site links to websites, products and services run by others. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, products, privacy practices or availability. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

6. Our content

The Site and its content, including text, graphics, logos and page design, are owned by Web Ventures of New York, Inc. or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, sell or create derivative works from the Site’s content without our written permission, other than short quotations with a link back to the source page.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Site to break the law; post content that is false, defamatory, abusive, obscene or infringing; impersonate anyone; send spam or harmful code; or interfere with the Site’s operation, including by scraping it in a way that burdens our servers.

Veterinary knowledge changes, and we do not warrant that content is complete, current or error-free, or that the Site will be uninterrupted or free of harmful components.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WEB VENTURES OF NEW YORK, INC. AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OR INJURY (INCLUDING ILLNESS, INJURY OR DEATH OF AN ANIMAL) ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR RELIANCE ON, THE SITE OR ITS CONTENT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Web Ventures of New York, Inc. and its owners, officers, employees and contractors from any claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your Submissions or your breach of these terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Site or these terms will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Nassau County, New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
