Answer from Our Team

It depends on what caused the blue cloudiness. Corneal swelling from inflammation can clear with treatment and vision can return, but if the pressure inside the eye rose (glaucoma) or the retina was damaged, blindness may be permanent.

Ask your vet to recheck him within a day or two (sooner if painful), including eye pressure and a stain test, since steroid drops are risky if there is an ulcer, or to refer you to a veterinary ophthalmologist. Keep giving the prescribed medicines and go back promptly if the eyes become more painful or bulge.

See cloudy eyes in dogs and glaucoma in dogs.

This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
