White Scars on a Bichon's Eyes
White spots on the cornea are often scars from old injuries or ulcers, or deposits of fat or minerals (corneal dystrophy or degeneration). Some are inherited and harmless; others are linked to high cholesterol (sometimes from an underactive thyroid, Cushing's disease or diabetes) or long-term eye inflammation.
Your vet's advice to see an eye specialist is sensible. The ophthalmologist can tell what the spots are and whether any treatment is needed, such as blood tests for cholesterol and thyroid.
See corneal ulcers in dogs for more on corneal problems.
