Swollen Eyelid and Swollen White of the Eye
by Devon
(Michigan )
Sudden swelling of the eyelid and the white of the eye (called chemosis) is often an allergic reaction, for example to an insect sting, a plant or a chemical. It can also follow an injury.
Call your vet promptly, and go to an emergency vet right away if the swelling spreads to the face or throat, or she has trouble breathing, vomits or collapses.
See conjunctivitis in dogs for more.
This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
