Swellings Where an IV Was Placed

Reader Question
Had IV for antivenin infusion, now has 2 swellings at injection sites.

Answer from Our Team

Swellings at IV sites are usually inflammation, a small bruise, or fluid that leaked under the skin, and they often settle within days. Antivenin can also cause reactions.

Call your vet if they're getting bigger, hot, very painful or draining, or if your dog seems unwell.

See lumps and bumps on dogs.
