Small Dark Lump Under the Skin

Dark lumps can be benign, such as cysts or benign pigmented tumors, or less often cancerous. Most melanomas on haired skin in dogs are benign, but those on the toes, lips and mouth are more often malignant.
A good rule from veterinary oncologists is "see something, do something": any lump the size of a pea (1 cm) or larger that has been there for a month should have a needle aspirate or biopsy. A needle test is the quickest way to know.
This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
