Scaly Lump on a Dog Who Had Lymphoma

Reader Question
My Jack Russell is 8 years old. Has been in remission from Lymphoma since 4 years old had chemo for this.

I have noticed at the top of her front leg on her body is a scaly type small lump probably the size of a pea and kind of flattish. Not causing any pain when touched she is her normal self.

The vet has put her on antibiotics and we think it is marginally smaller now been given another week of antibotics to see if it goes, other than that are says no may need to remove it. And advice would be appreciated! Many thanks.

Answer from Our Team

Because she's had lymphoma, any new lump deserves a closer look. A scaly, flat lump that shrinks with antibiotics may be an infection or inflammation, but it isn't proof.

Ask your vet for a needle aspirate rather than another round of antibiotics if it doesn't go away completely. If it's being removed, have it sent to a pathologist.
