Raised Bumps on a Puppy's Back

Reader Question
This is the back of our adolescent dopiest puppy with a bunch of bumps. We've been seeing the vet for this over the past 2 months. We had blood tests and skin scrapes. There was evidence of bacteria. Tugg has been on the antibiotic Clavamox for the past few weeks. We are taking him to the vet again tomorrow. Have you seen anything like this before? The bumps aren't ingrown hairs nor do they have pus in them. Thanks!

Answer from Our Team

Bumps in a young dog that showed bacteria on testing are usually a bacterial skin infection, but demodex mites and allergies can play a part.

If the antibiotic hasn't cleared them, ask your vet about a culture, a medicated shampoo and repeat skin scrapings.
