Reader Question
My Pug 1.5 years old had ulcer in its left eye six months back which bursted and lost its lense resulting in blindness of the left eye.

One month back the right eye was effected with ulser and was under treatment resulting in partial blindness of the right eye.Yesterday while playing injured its right eye resulting in blood clot leading to complete blindness.

Cannot see any thing now and is under treatment.

Can my pug get back some sight?

Answer from Our Team

We're sorry. Whether any sight returns depends on what is blocking it. Blood inside the eye often clears over days to weeks if the retina and lens weren't badly damaged, and inflammation or haze on the cornea can also improve. If the lens has dislocated or the retina has detached, vision is much less likely to return. Your vet or a veterinary ophthalmologist can examine the eye and tell you whether there's a realistic chance.

Keep up the treatment, protect the eye with a cone, and ask about long-term lubricating drops and a tear test, since Pugs are prone to repeat ulcers. Many blind dogs adapt remarkably well with a consistent home layout.
