Reader Question
Born April,22,2019. Mixed w/ Rat Terrier and vet thinks Boxer. Under chin. General health ok but with recent unusual spells during eating. He will sometimes seem dizzy and pause and lay down before finishing his meal. Over all health seems good. Has a rash under neck and needs gluclosimine for joint problems.

Answer from Our Team

The dizzy spells and lying down mid-meal are the bigger concern and deserve a vet visit soon. Possible causes include pain in the mouth or throat, a swollen lymph node or salivary gland under the chin, or less commonly heart or neurological problems.

Ask your vet to examine the lump and his mouth, and to listen to his heart. A needle sample of the lump can tell whether it's a lymph node, salivary gland or something else.
