Kennel Spray for a Dog With a Leaf-Mold Allergy

Reader Question
We have two 7 yoa Cairn terriers. One has a very thick undercoat, the other very thin. The one with the thin undercoat developed an all over rash that our vet attributed to a fungal allergy from leaf fall in the kennel. Is there any kennel spray to help safely control these fungal infestations?

Answer from Our Team

There's no proven kennel spray that prevents mold allergy, and many disinfectants and fungicides can irritate skin. Practical steps are raking up fallen leaves, keeping the kennel dry and well ventilated, and washing bedding often.

Wiping or rinsing your dog after outdoor time and regular baths can reduce allergens on the coat. If the rash persists, your vet can check for infection and discuss allergy medicines.
