Reader Question
I did a home visit of an Alusky puppy I adopted out and noticed her blue eyes turned white and the pupil was cloudy white, not black. What could be wrong with 14 wk old puppy? Her coat was also dull and she was under weight. She had a shiny coat and bright eyes before adoption.

Answer from Our Team

Cloudy white pupils in a young, thin puppy with a dull coat need a vet visit soon. Causes include juvenile or inherited cataracts, inflammation inside the eye, or corneal disease, and the poor condition suggests the puppy may be unwell overall.

Ask the new owners to book an exam that includes both eyes and a general health check.
