Greenish Poop: Could Colored Treats Be the Cause?
Yes. Treats with green coloring, or treats and chews containing ingredients such as spinach, spirulina or other plants, can turn poop green. So can eating grass, which many dogs do.
If your dog is otherwise well, try stopping the colored treats for a few days. Call your vet if the green color continues, or if your dog has diarrhea, vomiting, seems unwell, or could have eaten a poison such as rodent bait (some are dyed green or blue).
See our dog poop chart for what other poop colors mean.
