Getting a Second Opinion on a Skin Lesion

Reader Question
I went to my vet and they told me that Walter's skin lesion is just a skin tag or benign lesion . Being that I work in anesthesia, I am concerned it is a bit more than that . This is located on his front leg .

Answer from Our Team

If you're uneasy, it's reasonable to ask whether it has been tested. A skin tag can usually be identified by looking, but other lesions need a needle aspirate or biopsy to confirm they're benign.

Ask your vet to aspirate it or remove it for biopsy, or for a referral. Photograph and measure it so you can track any change.
