7 month old morkie with a couple of areas of dry scabby areas on back and tip of tail. End of tail also missing hair.

Answer from Our Team

Dry, scabby spots and hair loss on the back and tail of a young dog are often caused by flea allergy, a skin infection, ringworm or mites.

Use a vet-recommended flea preventive and have your vet check the spots with scrapings and cytology.

See skin rashes in dogs.

This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
