Reader Question
My dog have been shaking her head alot, she have been even getting up in the middle of the night shaking her head. This has been happening for about four now,I'm really worried about her.Her ears, they both smell of wax,I am really worried about her.

Really need some advice on what might be the problem.

Answer from Our Team

Head shaking with a waxy smell in both ears is a typical sign of an ear infection, often yeast, bacteria or both. It's uncomfortable, which is why she's waking up.

Please have a vet examine her ears and check a swab. Most infections clear in 2 to 4 weeks with cleaning and medicated drops. Avoid home remedies until a vet has checked that the eardrums are intact.
