Answer from Our Team

Mucus after running into thorns suggests the eye was scratched or punctured, or something is still in it. A thorn puncture can carry bacteria deep into the eye, so this needs a vet as soon as possible.

Rinse only with sterile saline and keep him from rubbing. Please avoid eye drops you have at home, especially any with a steroid. If money is tight, ask about a payment plan or a low-cost clinic; it's much cheaper to treat an injury early than after it becomes infected.

This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
