Does Sugar Feed Cancer in Dogs?

Reader Question
Sugars are known to feed cancer.

Answer from Our Team

All cells, including healthy ones, use glucose, and the body makes its own glucose even when the diet is low in sugar. There's no good evidence that cutting out bread or pasta will slow or cure cancer in dogs.

What matters most is a complete, balanced diet that keeps your dog eating and at a healthy weight, since many dogs with cancer lose weight. Some vets recommend diets higher in protein and fat. Talk to your vet before making big changes.
