Breeding a Maltese That May Have a Thyroid Problem

Have her tested and treated before breeding. Untreated hypothyroidism can reduce fertility and affect pregnancy and puppies, and being overweight adds risk. Weight gain alone doesn't prove a thyroid problem, so a proper diagnosis comes first.
If she is hypothyroid, discuss with your vet whether breeding is wise, since some thyroid disease may run in families.
This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
