Answer from Our Team

Please see a vet today, and ask them to stain the eye for an ulcer. Steroid drops (such as dexamethasone) can make a corneal ulcer much worse, and a cloudy, painful eye after starting them is a warning sign. Boston Terriers are prone to ulcers.

Stop the steroid product unless your vet says otherwise, and protect the eye from rubbing. Because this is his only eye, it's worth asking for a referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist. If cost is a worry, ask your vet about a payment plan, or look for a low-cost clinic, humane society clinic or veterinary school near you.
