Bluish Cast in a German Shepherd's Eye
by Tom
(Cordova. Tenn)
A bluish haze can be nuclear sclerosis (a normal aging change, usually in both eyes), but in one eye it more often means swelling of the cornea, which can come from an ulcer, uveitis, glaucoma or corneal disease. German Shepherds are also prone to a chronic inflammatory condition of the cornea called pannus, which usually shows as a pink or dark film starting at the outer edge of both eyes.
Please book an exam soon, and go the same day if the eye becomes red, squinty or painful.
See cloudy eyes in dogs for the causes.
