A 10-Year-Old Schnauzer Who Stopped Eating After Drinking More

Gus needs to see a vet today. Because he is vomiting, weak and not eating, please go to an emergency vet if your own vet can't see him today. Not eating, weight loss, vomiting and low energy, after a few weeks of drinking a lot and needing to go out at night, can be signs of a serious illness that is often treatable when it's found early.
In a dog his age, vets will think about diabetes, kidney disease and pancreatitis, which Miniature Schnauzers are prone to, as well as liver disease and hormone problems. Blood and urine tests can usually tell them apart quickly. Diabetes that has gone untreated can become an emergency called ketoacidosis, which causes vomiting and weakness, so please don't wait to see if he improves.
Until he's seen, keep fresh water available and don't force food. Bring a note of how much he has been drinking and when the signs started.
