2-Month-Old Maltese Panting All Afternoon

Puppies breathe faster than adult dogs, and panting after play, excitement or in a warm room is common. A puppy who is energetic and wants to play is reassuring.
Still, panting for hours without stopping isn't typical. Check that she isn't too warm, and count her breathing when she's asleep. Call your vet if she keeps panting at rest, coughs, tires easily or has pale or blue gums, since puppies can have heart murmurs, infections or low blood sugar.
See dog panting for normal breathing rates.
