What Color Should a Dog's Penis Be?

What is the normal range of color? I know it should be reddish pink, but when my dog humps a pillow, the tip is red and the shaft is light purplish. Is this healthy?

A dog's penis is usually pink to red, and the color often deepens during excitement and an erection as blood flows in. A darker red or slightly purplish shade during or right after an erection is normal, as long as it returns to pink and goes back into the sheath within a short time.
See your vet if it stays dark purple or very swollen, stays out for more than about 30 minutes, or you notice sores, bleeding or discharge.
