Small White Pimples on a Cavalier Cross's Chin and Chest
by A reader
Small white-headed pimples on the chin and chest are often either canine acne or folliculitis (inflamed or infected hair follicles). Both are common and usually not serious. Now that there are more and some are crusted and inflamed, it's a good time to have your vet take a look, because infected spots usually clear faster with the right treatment.
Until then, keep the area clean and dry, wash food and water bowls daily (stainless steel or ceramic bowls are easier to keep clean than plastic), and try not to squeeze the spots, which can push infection deeper. Avoid human acne creams unless your vet says they're safe.
Your vet may do a quick test of the skin to check for bacteria, yeast or mites, and may suggest a medicated wash or wipes. If the spots keep coming back, an underlying allergy is often the reason.
