My English Bulldog He was a happy go lucky 1yr and 9month old puppy. He loved everyone, never knew a stranger in his life. He was loved by everyone he met. Around Dec 6, 2010 on a saturday he threw up about 15 times. I took him vet #1, they did and exam and blood work so it took a few hours to find out what the resluts were of the blood work. The results showed the white blood count was high so i got anitbiotics. He continued to vomit off and on for the next few days. So I took him to another vet to see what they said. Vet #2 did a physical and looked at the blood work and gave me some a prescription diet anti-nausea medicine to go home. I chaecked all his toys and none were missing and no parts to them were missing. Around this time I had changed his dog food be he stopped eating his so i thoought it might be from that and we had also brought a puppy of his home so we thought he might just be to stressed from that. He continues to throw up at different times of the day, sometimes after he ate and others he woulnt have ate anything. He was at 75lbs to start out. When we noticed him loosing weight I took him back to the ve. Had x-rays done, nothing showed up. Forgot to mention while he was on the antibiotics he seemed to stop vomiting. and he had stopped for about a wk. then then it was about a week befor christmas and we had more x-rays done and had 5 different vets look at them. We then had an ultrasound done. The vet at a different clinic said everything looked good, the bottem of the stomach looked a little funny but nothing to be worried about. He continues to vomit off and on for several more days. 2 vets thought he might have helicobacter pylori bacteria so we treated for that. That didnt help. We did a contrast series (berium series) next. Nothing showed up, the liquid went threw fine. He is down to about 67-68lbs at this time. Christmas comes and he is fine, just like his old self. Eating ok, mosting soft can foods. Aftering christmas his vomiting returns. At this point I thought someone was piosoning my baby. He vomited again on Sunday 2nd, and doesnt Monday, but does again Wed so I take him back to the vet to have an endoscopy done too see if anything was there or
take some biopsies, one of the techs working noticed that the intestine looked wierd and suggests to do an exporitory in case there isnt anything there we could get better biopsy samples. so the Dr goes in and finds a 2 by 3 inch piece of rubber that was part of a toy chew tire he had over a year ago and I had thrown away stuck in his intestine. I was so relieved to finally have an answer, 8 vets later. The surgery goes fine and he stays about 2 1/2 days and I go to pick him up Sunday 9th. I noticed his abdomen was a little swollen but I thought I was just from the surgery. Monday the 10th his abd is really swollen so I take him back to the vet and he has gained 7lbs since the surgery. 4 days and not eating hardly nothing. They do an abd tap and pull out brown fluid and rush him to surgery. His surtures holding his intestine together had come loose and everything was leaking into his abd, blood, feces, bacteria, ect. 7 lbs of fluid in his abd. The vet cleans him out and he makes it through surgery #2, everything looks ok, blood pressure is a little low. I knew that since he made it through the 2nd surgery he would be ok. At 3am he went in to cardiac arrest and they couldnt get his heart to start again. I would like to know how 8 veterinarians didnt catch the xray the tech did or why they didnt seem to concered. I lost my baby He and he can never be replaced.
