Answer from Our Team

I'm so sorry. Cancer at 1.5 years old is rare and very hard. In young dogs, what looks like lung cancer can sometimes be a cancer that started somewhere else and spread to the lungs, such as bone cancer, which can cause a lump on a leg. If the diagnosis hasn't been confirmed, ask your vet whether a sample of the lump might clarify it, but often the focus at this point is comfort.

Your vet can help keep her comfortable with pain relief, medicine for breathing and appetite, and a soft bed close to you. Watch for fast or hard breathing at rest, not eating or drinking, or not being able to get up. Those mean it's time to talk with your vet about her comfort.

Your sadness shows how much you love her. Spending quiet time together and letting her rest with you is a real comfort to her.

This is general information, not a diagnosis. Please follow your own vet's advice.
