A Skin Tag That Suddenly Swelled and Started Oozing
by A reader
A skin tag that suddenly turns red, swollen and oozing has usually been injured, twisted on its stalk so its blood supply is cut off, or become infected. Sometimes what looked like a skin tag is a different growth that has changed.
Keep it clean with saline, stop your dog licking or scratching it, and have your vet look at it soon. A twisted or infected tag is often best removed, which is usually a quick procedure, and testing it confirms what it was.
