A Bulldog Suddenly Leaking Urine With a Red Lump Nearby
by A reader
Waking up in a wet bed and leaking urine without control can come from a bladder infection, bladder stones, a prostate problem (common in unneutered males), drinking much more than usual (from diabetes, kidney or hormone problems), or nerve problems from the spine. English Bulldogs are prone to spinal problems that can affect bladder control.
A red lump next to the penis could be a skin infection from the leaking urine, an irritated or enlarged area of the sheath, or a growth. Please have your vet check both. Bring a fresh urine sample if you can, caught in a clean container.
Go sooner if he strains to pee and little comes out, has blood in the urine, wobbles on his back legs, or seems in pain. Keep the area clean and dry to protect the skin.
