Concerned with Dog Ear Pimple

I have a 2 yr old Puggle that developed a pimple like sore on the outer rim of her ear canal. It's not a hematoma because it popped on its own and only pus came out. She has had no changes in diet or anything.

Normally I wouldn't be concerned but she has had this in her ear for several months and it doesn't seem infected, she doesn't even seem phased by it and it hasn't changed. It's just like a permanent pimple and I'd like to know what it is.

Vet Suggestion For Treating a Dog Ear Pimple

Hi there,

I can’t say with certainty what the lesion you describe on your dog’s ear is without first examining her, but it doesn’t sound too worrisome. It is possible that she has a blocked pore, a small foreign body in the skin, or perhaps even a benign mass that is over-secreting sebum.

As long as the “pimple” does not bother her and it is not getting worse, I would simply bring it to your veterinarian’s attention at her next, regularly scheduled appointment.
